Maybe this will make you feel better. I have chronic ear pain when I lay on either side of my head. It makes sleeping a challenge some nights. It’s due to my years of teeth-grinding (bruxism). I can’t do much to reverse the damage, but I can keep it from getting worse by wearing a teeth guard at night. I don’t much care for it, but it’s a necessary evil.

I’m sympathetic to your plight. Did you doctor suggest anything at this stage? Or are you simply coping with it?

TMJ - ouch. About 7 yrs ago a dentist told me I had TMJ - went & made me a special mouthpiece for 900 smacks w/out even checking if my ins. would cover it. A few weeks later the pain became so unbearable my Dr told me to go get a CT scan. WHOpps there is was - Squamous Cell Carcinoma (cancer) in my Maxillary Sinus. Needless to say the dentist was incorrect & I didn’t have to pay for the mouthpiece. After a few VERY rough bumps dealing with this I’m still here.

Now - not saying you have cancer in your jaw I’m just saying that TMJ is something that Dentists throw out there quite a bit when they don’t really know what’s going on. IMhO - go get a 2nd opinion. Always get a 2nd opinion.
