To Sit or Not to Sit

Well……it’s time.

Time to start addressing Will and the potty. He is interested in sitting on the potty, talking about the potty, and watching others go potty.

I will admit that I am out of my league on this one. I potty trained my 8 year old daughter with ease. I have no idea what I am doing. Little boys are a whole new ball game. The whole standing up thing is hard to model. Is it ok to teach him to pee sitting down??? I recently saw a video on You Tube that featured a preacher who would say it’s a sin to pee sitting down….

………..I know that is extreme.

However, I don’t know what to do!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

I covet advice. HELP!!!!!!

Have Travis install a urinal, because if he does not pisseth against a wall, he’s not living right. And please don’t get the “targets” that he is supposed to aim at. That’s just weird. Let me know how this works out, because we’ll be there shortly with Luke.

If it makes you feel better, Noah’s sitting down.

It’s just logistical. For him to stand the toilet would have to be under the floor.

A little step platform is fine. And you have someone close who can model peeing standing up. Dad is up to bat.

Have him pee outside a lot…. Seriously. It’s easier and cleaner, and he will learn to do it standing up.

Men like to shoot stuff. Aim and trajectory are difficult to learn without lots of practice, so I say bring on the targets. Cheerios work well. Float one right in the center and tell him to sink it.

Timm- Will has a step he likes to stand on, so he is tall enough, but I am afraid of his poor aim…..the thought of spraying urine all over the place is frightening to my nursing side!!!

Brody- Good thought!

Steve- He would love a floating Dora target!!!! Trav would NOT approve! Well maybe if she was peed on it would be ok!!!

My nephew started with sitting down…actually backwards on the potty so there was no mess on the floor. Eventually his daddy taught him how big boys go!!! GOOD LUCK!
